Chewing promotes good oral health. The more cats chew, the more opportunity to mechanically scrub the plaque and tartar from their teeth. When used twice a day as part of a dental care routine, dental treats, such as FELINE GREENIES® Treats, can reduce tartar and plaque buildup.
What are the benefits of good oral health?
Periodontal disease is the most common disease of adult cats and dogs. It is often a silent process that progresses without detection. Even in cases of severe dental disease, your cat may not demonstrate obvious discomfort. Oral disease is also a primary cause of offensive breath odor.
Dental plaque is the key substance that must be controlled in order to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Dental plaque is not easily removed by normal tongue actions or water drinking and generally requires mechanical means for removal either from a professional cleaning by paying your veterinarian a visit, or in the choice of a dental diet and treats.
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are specifically formulated to prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar accumulation on your cat's teeth through mechanical action. How does FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats help maintain my cat's teeth?
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are formulated with natural oat fiber which provides texture within the kibble that scrubs your cat's teeth. Think of oat fiber as "nature's toothbrush". This scrubbing action is much like the mechanical action of brushing your teeth. This mechanical scrubbing action serves to remove plaque and tartar from your cat's teeth.
How Do I feed FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats?
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are recommended for adult cats of any breed. Typically your veterinarian will give instruction for dental care and nutritional modification at the 1 year visit. Therefore we recommend that you don’t start your cat on FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats until they are at least ten to 12 months of age.

FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are green because they contain chlorophyll.
Will FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats stain my carpets?
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats do not contain any artificial dyes or colors that would permanently stain your carpet. The green color could transfer to your carpet if your cat was to vomit on the carpet and it wasn't cleaned up within 10-15 minutes. A typical stain remover such as Resolve® could be used to lift the stain from the carpet. However, we recommend that you feed the treats to your cat in his/her food bowl if you are concerned about getting any crumbs on your carpet.
What is the shelf life of FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats?
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats have a shelf life of eighteen months from the date of manufacture in the original unopened package. The package is flushed with nitrogen (an inert gas) to reduce the level of oxygen in the package to levels low enough to prevent fat oxidation. Once opened, the product will have a shelf life in your pantry of one to two months.
What if my cat has allergies?
If a cat has food allergies, it would likely be to common proteins like beef, chicken, or dairy. Food allergies in animals are primarily due to proteins and generally the meat proteins. However, your cat could have allergies to other sources of proteins such as wheat, corn, or rice as these are also ingredients.
Are FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats like GREENIES® Canine Dental Chews?
No. FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are an extruded kibble that is cut slightly thicker and larger than main meal kibble to promote dental benefit. They also have a light, crunchy texture appropriate for the bite force of cats. GREENIES® Canine Dental Chews are injection molded and have a texture appropriate for the bite force of dogs. Both products utilize the mechanical action of chewing to clean teeth and both are highly effective and incredibly palatable.
What if I’m not satisfied with the product?
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats carry a product guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with the product just return the unused product to your retailer along with a cash register receipt and a statement of why you are not satisfied. Your full purchase price will be refunded.

FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are made from highly digestible proteins, fats and carbohydrates. They contain chicken meal,dried chicken and corn gluten meal as the primary sources of protein. In vivo digestibility testing shows FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats to be approx. 82% digestible, which is similar to premium dry cat foods.
FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are fortified with essential vitamins and minerals and are nutritionally complete and balanced for adult maintenance. They are intended to be fed as a treat, twice a day. FELINE GREENIES® Dental Treats are not intended to replace your animal’s maintenance diet of dry or wet food.
