How To
Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs are highly palatable and seal tightly to hide the smell of medicine. If your pet is good at finding the pill in table food, it is usually because they smell traces of the pill on the table food while you are placing it in their mouth. Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs seal in the pill and the scent of the medication. However, be certain not to touch the Greenies® Pill Pockets® treat for dogs with a hand that has come in contact with the pill as the dog is likely to smell the pill residue and reject both the pill and the Greenies® Pill Pockets® treat for dogs. Some dogs swallow whole and some will chew a few times before swallowing. In only the rarest of cases will the pill be dislodged from the Greenies® Pill Pocket® treat for dogs before sliding safely down the esophagus.
Studies show that in 52% of the cases, pills can become clinically entrapped, meaning that after one hour, the pill is still in the esophagus. Since our pets don’t drink water to get the pill down, it is helpful to stimulate saliva flow as the pill is being given. Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs are formulated to assist in the lubrication of the throat allowing the pill and Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs to enter the stomach as soon as it is eaten resulting in quicker absorption of medication.
Several reasons: 1) Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs have fewer calories. For the size of the pill. Greenies® Pill Pockets® treats for dogs come in three sizes. For dogs: a larger size that fits most capsules and a smaller size that fits most tablets. For cats: an extra small size that fits most cat sized capsules and tablets.
